The Blonds hit New York Fashion Week 2020 with a Celestial glamour vibe as they hit the catwalk. Their Spring collection “ETHEREALNESS” was born out of the desire to make their clients feel strong, seductive, and confident. The Blonds designers David Blonde and Phillipe Blonde wanted to show their skills to honor their Latin roots through costume wear and fashion. The sequin surgical masks, sparkling get-ups and embellished pant suits with a glowing cross in the background gives the viewer a futuristic take on Religion. They are known for their craftsmanship and use of diverse materials with hardware such as spikes and chains.
This collection gives the world a look into mesh wire and lots and lots of sparkle. I was really into this collection. I’ve never heard of The Blonds before I saw their show on a Snapchat subscription and I instantly became obsessed. I am deeply in love with the way they drape their clothing over their models and the radiation their new fashion pieces gave to the audience. Their over the top glam caught my attention right as the first model walked out in a blazing sequin jumper and oversized coat to start their show.
As I was watching the models do their thing, I noticed right away the different textures they used to create their collection. Feathers, chains, snakeskin and crystals stood out the most to me through the lit-up ambiance of the giant cross in the background. This collection is not for your average person, but for the woman or man who is trying to jump out of their comfort zone who is trying to seek attention of the people around them. The Blonds showed me that there is no such thing as basic when it comes to their new collection, and it is ok to get a little feisty sometimes.
